Wells is about 40 miles from Amstedam. You can get here from Amsterdam and Johnstown by going north on Route 30 to Speculator. Also, you can use Route 8 north from Utica, Herkimer and Rome. Just turn right on NY 30 in Speculator Or use Route 8 south from the Adirondack Northway at Exit 25 Chestertown. When you meet NY 30 after crossing the Sacandaga River, turn left toward Wells's town center and the Lake.
